Guimarães
Considered the birthplace of Portugal, its history is closely linked to the national history and identity. Distinguished by its unique heritage, its historic centre is one of the most beautiful and exemplarily restored, recognized by UNESCO in 2001 as a World Heritage Site.It is a charming city full of history, reflected in numerous national monuments and iconic buildings scattered throughout the city. Its people are equally unique, proud of their city, aware of their heritage with an extraordinary ability to host visitors.

Alfa Atlântica – Verde
Located in a very bright location, it occupies the corner between Rua Dr. José Sampaio and Parque das Hortas, and benefits from privileged views to the south of Monte da Penha, to the north of the Castle and to the east of the area where the Church of S. Marinha da Costa is located. This will be the main private condominium in the city centre, located around 200m from the emblematic historic centre. Those who have the privilege of living in this new development will be able to experience the city in a calm and comfortable way, without needing to use public transport to access everything the city has to offer. Something that becomes especially relevant with the ongoing sustainable mobility projects that the municipality is studying and which foresee the pedestrianisation of the central areas.
VERDE will provide a range of facilities such as a gym, an equipped multipurpose room, a children's playground and other leisure areas, in addition to a private garden carefully designed by landscape architects.

Development
The design of the building, particularly its three elevations, although with different languages, were designed to achieve formal and morphological unity. The elevation facing the Parque das Hortas, which is longer, is characterised by protruding slabs with vertical blades and continuous horizontal concrete flower boxes. These are striking and run through the entire volume of the elevation, creating a rhythm that dilutes the “heavy” image of a long building. This solution, given that it is a south-facing elevation, controls the amount of shade. The elevation facing north/west and Rua Dr. José Sampaio is marked by the repetition of balconies that set back from the façade. The top of the building facing east, except for the one set back, will be closed, creating a “blind” top.
The main balconies, facing south, are connected to the common areas of the houses, thus adding a truly usable space to the houses. The balconies facing north/west are related to the most private areas of the houses and therefore have smaller dimensions.
The façades will be covered with ceramic finish on the northeast and northwest elevations and wood on the southeast elevation. This exterior cladding will be placed on thermally efficient vertically perforated ceramic brick walls. On the lower floors that contact the garage, the façade will be covered with vertical prefabricated concrete elements, creating solid and empty spaces that allow for easy ventilation of the space.
Attention to the construction issues of thermal and acoustic comfort, as well as energy efficiency and durability of the construction, are a fundamental concern in the execution of this project and a constant in Alfa Atlântica's projects and works.
